Mini MX Review – Cheap Amlogic S905 TV Box

In this review I will present another Android media player with very low price which is actually around $40. This time is about TV box called Mini MX. It has very reasonable hardware and selling at affordable price and you will see why I am telling you this now. Also in package except the box you will get also remote control, HDMI cable, power adapter and user manual.

Design and build

Really I don’t want to waste your and my time on design because mostly all media players has more or less the same design and build quality. The box is made of plastic in black color, the box is very thin so it will not take too much space in your room. On both sides has ports for USB2.0, HDMI, DC 5V, RJ45 and SPDIF.

Performance and benchmark testing

The Mini MX TV box has medium strong hardware like quad core CPU Amlogic S905 with speed up to 2GHz. It has also 1 GB of RAM and 8GB internal memory with support microSD card up to 32GB while the GPU is Mali-450. As you can see this hardware will be enough strong for most functions like KODI. I have also tested the device with several benchmark test applications like Antutu and below you can see the results.

Software

This Android media player has Android 5.1 for operating system where the user interface is additionally visually customised. For me it looks really cool but the most important information is that the operating system is fast and fluid and until now I did not find any problems during use. As I said before it has also pre-installed KODI, Google Play Store and Movie Player. Of course I have tried KODI and I can freely say that the KODI works perfectly normal on Mini MX. You just need to install desired add-ons. Besides the KODI I have also tried to watch movies from my USB flash drive with standard Android application and in this situation also everything was just fine. Below you can see several screenshots which I have personal taked.

Connectivity

The Mini MX has all required ports like 2 x USB, 1 x LAN port, 1 x HDMI and 1 x SPDIF. So it is just up to you which type of connectivity will you use, wireless or wired. Because it has of course wireless and buetooth 4.0 connection. Thanks to H.265 video code support, you don’t need to have high speed Internet. I personally have used wireless connection and I can say that connection was stable during all the time. The remote control uses infrared connection and approximately up to 5 m it works good.

Conclusion

I am pleasantly surprised with quality of this Android media player. For example the Mini MX has solid build in hardware with very good soft optimisation. It comes with newest KODI which works as it should work. It supports H.265 video code, so you don’t need to have high speed Internet connection. And most important you don’t need to pay too much because the price is around $40. For more information please visit the official website.
